Consider the effects so far, and possible effects in the future, on media institutions involved in your case study (media production).
Facebook will change in the future in several ways, firstly its censoring pictures that are inappropriate and paying those who are in different countries in order to censor these types of media . Secondly self automated censorship is the way forward for many social networking sites . I think that in the future Facebook will have its own newspaper created by citizen journalists whereby all the news will be posted up for viewers to subscribe to , instead of traditional based media whereby there is a lot of censorship by the gatekeepers . This type of content could over take the traditional forms of print newspapers . The web 2.0 theory can be applied to this case study because people are becoming more active in shaping media output as well as creating their own videos through youtube and these are being used by other institutions such as the BBC eg the Arab Spring was first filmed by a citizen journalist , which was then caught by a journalist in Tunisia and posted up on Facebook , this lead to more awareness by the media institutions who then created the 'hype' , this lead to the UN getting involved .
